controversial but in my many years as a minor on tumblr i’ve never seen a single sex worker. they always block minors, mark their blogs as nsfw, and don’t spam the popular sfw tags. even if you, as a minor, actually look for them, as long as you listed your age truthfully in the registration, you won’t be able to find them.
what i, instead, saw as a minor was:
porn bots (which could be stopped by: captcha, double confirmation for accounts, not allowing url shorteners, not allowing rebloggers to delete captions, i would even be ok with hyperlinks not being allowed in reblogs)
fetishes and kinksters (which could be stopped by: adding more tags to the nsfw filter, including fetishes/kinks that appear as sfw)
people who forget tag their shit (which could be stopped by: an auto-tagging system for sensitive tags that would work similarly to the current block for apparently nsfw posts, but can give the op the option to delete incorrect tags)
pro-ana, pro-mia, romanticization of self-harm (which could be stopped by: banning the whole tag, as it just happened)
nazi, terfs (just kick them out for hate speech like twitter does)
pro-map thankfully only appeared once i was already past 18 but of course you could just ban the whole community + tag as it just happened.
prevent usernames with words that hate and pedophilic groups use to flag from being chosen at blog creation.
while i know that tumblr is a 13+ website, nsfw content was hidden from minors last year. most cp was deleted + outlawed (both irl and drawn) for good not even last month. and while those are recent changes they did make tumblr, overall, 13+ appropriate.
i do not care much for porn, i just feel like they are solving the problem the wrong way and punishing a group of people who did nothing to harm minors. there were smarter solutions to this problem that were ignored in the favor of a very sloppy solution that doesn’t even cover stuff like sfw kink blogs, porn bots who don’t post pictures (most of them), people who just won’t tag their nsfw, hate groups and other non-sex related communities who are extremely dangerous for minors.
originally i was going to wait until my health stopped freaking out before i wrote a more cohesive and coherent post than the last one so this is essentially just That Post but with more information, but apparently my health decided to nosedive rather rapidly so i’m just going to bang out what i can in this clear spot between like, 30 different medications that all make me feel tired and complications that leave me sore and itchy.
through mostly pushing myself to run errands even when i physically felt i couldn’t and through monetising my hobby as a nail tech, managed to scrape together a full £2700+, enough for my mother, our two cats, and i to stay in a relatively clean budget hotel that lets you keep your animals with you under the express promise from my family that my grandmother’s house would be put up for sale in june/july and sold by august and we would then get our inheritance and we would finally finally be financially stable and free of this family. i was manipulated into spending £2000 of my saved money on doing the house up to selling standard, but assured i’d be paid back within the week at the latest.
six months later i have yet to see hide nor hair of my money back from them and the house was only put up for sale at the end of august, forcing my mother and i to spread ourselves very thinly to keep our bills paid and ourselves fed.
the good news is the house is finally being sold, albeit for a lowballed number, but the bad news is that because my family has….basically robbed me of my money (and are consistently lying and trying to run rings around us that they can’t afford to pay me back my own money while they do things like ‘take loans to go on luxury holidays’) we now don’t have that money to stay in a budget hotel, let alone to save for a deposit.
in response to this final fucking bastard move my family is trying to pull, my health has absolutely shattered in the past month. my chonic illness has flaired MASSIVELY and PAINFULLY to the point where i am honestly considering surgery to end it, and i have been struck with three stress-related conditions which all require medication that makes me exceptionally tired, and i’ve been back to hospital a further two times in two weeks, though thankfully not A&E again.
usually i would offer writing for money as i do in fact have a writing blog with a ko-fi but with my health as it is all i can do is mostly bedrest and attempt to get my strength back.
the ideal target we need to hit for moving is about £3300, which covers a two week budget hotel stay, moving vans, storage, and bills with a small amount to put toward a deposit, and currently i have about £800. honestly though, i’d settle for just my £2000 back.
i hate asking for money, i hate having to beg strangers for help even if they’re willing to give it, i hate the uncertainty, which is why i worked so damn hard to get that fucking money in the first place but i have to accept that i’m not going to be paid back and that my physical health is absolutely the priority for once, so i can’t push myself to work like i usually would.
if you can’t help with money, please just boost this post, i know we’re all poor and tired.
and finally please just keep me in your thoughts if you can because i have been in so much pain the past two weeks, i’ve cried more than ever over my health, and i’ve been genuinely scared a few times.

as of today 28th November, we’ve been told we have to be out of the family house and in a new place by the 15th – 19th of December.
i can….just about cover the deposit and 6 months in advance and moving van (we dont get money from the sale of the house until another month after that date), but i can’t cover estate agent fees (anywhere between £500 – £950), so again, any help would be appreciated.
the end is in sight at least. soon i can get proper medical treatments and therapy…..

replying is how you make friends! reply to anything you want and be friendly. don’t make rude jokes if you’re not friends already though!
quote retweeting is a no-no. when you “retweet with a comment” it’s not liked by content creators because it makes a new tweet out of their tweet and they don’t get the likes and retweets they would get if you’d just retweeted it straight up. if you want to comment on a retweet, reply to it or post a new tweet starting with “LRT” which stands for “last retweet” (it’s fine to quote retweet dumb memes and so on.)
you can make your tweets private. this means no one but your followers will be able to see what you post and no one will be able to retweet your content. you can switch back and forth between private and public at will. some people make a separate private account to tweet personal stuff and let mutuals follow it only. it’s a good way to keep things separate.
what is privatter? privatter is a third party web app that content creators can allow to be attached to their twitter. it lets them tweet content that they can make exclusive to logged in users, followers, mutuals, or a specific list of users. as long as you are logged in to twitter and fall into the intended category, you’ll be able to see it.
you can mute people you follow. (and those you don’t, ofc.) you can also mute words and phrases and entire conversations. if you mute someone you follow and they reply to you, that reply will still show up in your notifications. it’s a good way to keep the peace!
you can limit notifications to people who follow you or to mutuals. (notifications from people you follow will still show up regardless of which option you’ve selected.)
miscellaneous tips and warnings: if you accidentally unfollow and refollow someone, it won’t show up in their notifications as long as it’s within a couple minutes. no more accidental stuff. everyone can see who everyone follows so watch out. people will know if you unfollow. if you want to report someone and want them gone forever, report a tweet where they used a curse word. screenshotting tweets for harassment is a no-no and can get you banned. don’t be lame. don’t be a dick. vaguing others is generally really bad form and so is complaining about content within a fandom you’re in. use the mute tools at your disposal and don’t be a spoiler. you won’t come back from a rep like that and everyone sees everything.

how do i keep all my content together on twitter?
threads are your best friend!! you make a tweet with your commission info and links and so on and pin it to the top of your page. then reply to that tweet with a copy and pasted link to the tweet where you posted the art/fic/etc you want to not lose. reply to that new tweet with the next piece of artwork and so on. you can also make a unique hashtag for your content to use when you post, so that when you search that hashtag later you’re able to see just your art. good luck!
