Hm. I understand the feeling, but at the same time, honestly… most girls, if not all, get a pretty bad deal from society. Obviously some have it much worse than others, and there are lots of different ways a woman’s life can suck, but I just don’t think indirectly putting down other girls is gonna help you get the respect you deserve. Of course you’re not gonna like people who have bullied you, or made you feel outcast, and you absolutely don’t have to. But the whole ‘not like other girls’ thing just reinforces the idea that being traditionally feminine is bad, or that women and girls are naturally petty and shallow and a woman has to be an outlier to be worthy, even if that’s not what you intend by saying it.
Doctor Who tried to suggest to me that there couldn’t actually be a legendary Earth hero named “Avacado” and that aliens only thought so because of a misunderstanding.
As a Earth person, who has in fact seen what sort of names we have to offer around here, I can declare that assertion to be lies.
Someone out there absolutely would name a child Avacado.
