and another thing!! holmes was like 27 or 28 or whatever in STUD and watson is only like three years older so where is the millennial representation in these modern adaptations

i want holmes and watson being millennials and the police being like “oh my god gross” bc those detectives spent years to become detectives and holmes just decided to become one and MILLENNIALS ARE KILLING THE POLICE INDUSTRY

lestrade is slightly older than both of them and kinda just copies the same disdain a lot of the officers have for holmes but quickly realizes how good holmes is at his job and gradually gets closer to him and watson but is still like “listen i’m an inspector and it took a lot to get to this rank so i’m going to follow the rules and i’d appreciate it if you could do the same when you’re with me and respect my job” and holmes is like “ew” but also like “okay of course i’ve been working on boundaries”

and gregson oh man gregson is like fairly older and quickly becomes DCI and that makes lestrade so mad because now he has to answer to gregson and follow his orders and what makes everything worse is that holmes respsects gregson so much more than he respects lestrade and gregson lets holmes get away with shit. but gregson can also royally Fuck Up and lestrade can kinda get some enjoyment out of that

holmes and watson become like actual friends with lestrade and lestrade becomes more encouraging of their shenanigans and learns from them and they’re all more patient of one another and gregson grows a little more and starts acknowledging lestrade’s accomplishments a little more and lets him work with holmes more because he just knows how good of a partnership that can be
